Barnaby has been investigating and introducing mindfulness and yoga in education, PreK-16, as a teacher, dean of students, principal and citizen for over 30 years. He currently is spearheading an initiative to introduce and support mindfulness and yoga programs in the New York City Department of Education. His experience includes facilitating curriculum development, leading intensive workshops for cohorts of school-based pedagogues on mindfulness, to developing key partnerships with outside providers to introduce superintendents, principals, senior leadership and elected officials to mindfulness. His goal is to develop knowledge, understandings and skills throughout the NYC educational system to establish, build capacity and sustain ongoing instruction of any students and families, professional development and educational leadership seeking opportunities to investigate and apply mindfulness strategies for social, emotional and academic learning and professional performance.
